Article title: Article titles should be concise and informative. Please avoid abbreviations and formulas unless they are established and widely understood, e.g., PCR.
Author names: Provide the first name(s) and family name(s) of each author in full, and the abbreviations for the middle names. Carefully check that all names are spelled accurately.
Affiliations: Provide the authors' affiliations (where the work was done) below the names. Include only the department, institute and/or university, city, and country. No additional information is required. Indicate all affiliations with a lowercase superscript number immediately after each author's name.
Corresponding author: Clearly specify who will manage correspondence for your article throughout all stages of the review and publication process, including after publication. This includes responding to future questions about your results, data, methodology, and materials. Ensure that the corresponding author's email address and contact details, including the "permanent address," remain up to date throughout the entire submission and publication phases.
Abstract: The abstract is limited to 50 words or fewer and should be a single paragraph that summarizes the basic content of the paper without presenting extensive experimental details. Avoid abbreviations and references, and do not include diagrams.
Keywords: 5-7 keywords should be added after the abstract, arranged alphabetically, separated by commas, and with the first letter capitalized.
Announcements
An Announcement is a concise report presenting specific microbiological data or resources, limited to 750 words and written without section headings. Submissions may include one figure and one table to summarize the dataset or provide contextual information; supplementary material is not permitted. The references are limited to 15.
Omics Announcements publish concise reports detailing the genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolic characterization of previously unrecognized, emerging, or re-emerging microbial pathogens. Submissions must include relevant accession numbers and provide clear instructions for accessing associated omics resources, including sequence data, analytical pipelines, software tools, and biological materials such as culture collections. All datasets must be deposited in publicly accessible repositories and be available prior to consideration for publication.
Outbreak Announcements publish concise reports on the detection, characterization, and investigation of infectious disease outbreaks affecting human, animal, or environmental health. These reports are intended to promote timely data sharing and to strengthen public health surveillance, outbreak response, and preparedness at local, regional, and global levels.
Microbial Announcements publishes concise reports on the identification, diagnosis, and characterization of newly emerging or re-emerging microbial pathogens within defined geographical regions. The journal also welcomes reports describing atypical phenotypic or genotypic features, as well as novel sequence types, variants, or lineages of previously recognized pathogens.
Letters to the Editor and Commentaries are concise, invited articles that provide substantive discussion or commentary on previously published announcements. They follow the same format and guidelines as announcements and are limited to 500 words, with up to one figure, one table, and ten references. These articles are solicited by the editor from experts in the field and are intended to offer meaningful scientific insight or perspective.
Table and figure
Submit only one editable text table, not images. Place the table near the related text or on separate pages at the end of your article. Make sure to cite the table within the manuscript. Avoid vertical rules, cell shading, and repeating results. Remember to include captions for each table.
Submit only one figure, image, or diagram with the manuscript, and ensure it is cited within the text. Save the figure as a TIFF, JPG, or PNG file with at least 300 dpi (for a single column: minimum 1063 pixels; for full-page width: 2244 pixels).
Data Availability: In this section, authors should provide detailed information about the data in the results, including links to publicly available datasets used or created during the study. For genomic data, offer accession numbers to public repositories and Web links to relevant software and databases. Be sure to include accession numbers for both the assembly and raw reads. All raw reads must be submitted to NCBI’s SRA or to similar repositories such as ENA or DDBJ.
