The Journal of Zoonoses and Infections in Developing Countries (Zoon. Infect. Dev. Count.) is an international, peer-reviewed journal publishing original research on zoonotic and infectious diseases in developing countries, including low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Infinity IPC publishes ZIDC (ISSN 0000-0000) online and adheres to the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) definition of open access. Infectious diseases and zoonoses remain leading causes of mortality in developing countries, resulting in millions of preventable deaths annually from illnesses such as malaria, HIV, tuberculosis, pneumonia, and diarrheal diseases. Contributing factors include poverty, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, poor sanitation, limited access to clean water, overcrowding, insufficient vaccine coverage, and limited education, all of which perpetuate a cycle of disease and poverty. By prioritizing research on zoonotic and infectious diseases in regions with the highest burden, ZIDC aims to address knowledge gaps, advance equitable research, and facilitate the development of effective prevention and control strategies globally.
